FRIDAY 11 APRIL 2025
CARRIE MARTIN
plus support by
JOHN DRAKES
I hope you will join Carrie who is steadily gaining national and international acclaim for her quality songwriting and amazing guitar work.
In 2014, Carrie put out her first full album ‘proper’, entitled “What If”, on which she was joined as guest musicians by not only Gordon but also Oliver Wakeman (son of Rick) and Ric Sanders from Fairport Convention. 'Seductive Sky' was her next release in 2018 .
Carrie was also picking up attention from her endorsement connections with Vintage / JHS guitars, her instrument of choice for some years and a source of constant support. She has also become the proud owner of a beautiful Fylde guitar, crafted by the great guitar-maker Roger Bucknall.
Her album 'Entity' followed Seductive Sky in 2020. Recorded partly by Mikey Scott, Carrie’s own son Ben, having only just finished his degree in sound engineering, stepped up to finish recording the last bits of the album after the pandemic took hold.
'Evergreen' followed three years later and managed to be Carrie’s most eclectic and varied collection yet, featuring tracks ranging from the delicate folk of ‘Lost In The Right Time’, through the soul-blues of ‘Deep Blue Heaven’ and the poppier ‘Girl With A Feather’, all the way to the prog-rock influences displayed on the ambitious eight-minute ‘Keep In The Light’.
'It’s pretty obvious from the moment you hear Carrie Martin sing that she is an outstanding vocalist with passion in each breath. Don’t be too sidetracked by that voice and stage persona and well crafted songs, because you might just miss the fact that she is a fine guitar player as well! Gordon Giltrap
Supporting

Many years later, John’s beautifully crafted songs of love and loss, political commentary and environmental issues continue to enchant audiences wherever he plays.
John is well known for his engaging performances and warm stage presence, and his honeyed voice and fine fingerpicking can be heard at many folk clubs and festivals around the country.

SATURDAY 14 JUNE
'Fire and Rain'
‘Fire and Rain’ is not a tribute or ‘sound-a-like’ act. It’s simply a collection of six of the best musicians from the North of England coming together to play music they love.
Expect the classic James Taylor songs including ‘Steamroller Blues’, ‘Shower the People’, ‘Fire and Rain’ and many other classics played with skill, passion, emotion, humour and humility.
‘Fire and Rain’ are all highly regarded musicians in their own right and include:
Tom Townsend (Lead Guitar and vocals),
Rich Adams (Acoustic Guitar, vocals and triangle!)
Mark Gordon (Keyboards)
Rowan Oliver (percussion)
Bob Walker (bass guitar).
The band members occasionally put their own individual musical projects aside to perform this amazing concert music they love and enjoy what they see as a ‘magical musical holiday’.
Building upon the success of the last few years, and having performed at various venues from small intimate clubs to large theatre venues ‘Fire and Rain’ are delighted to be able to bring this wonderful concert once again to the intimate surroundings of Croft Park Live Lounge Little Weighton!
